Vampire jet car at Schaeffler REPXPERT Conference

The infamous Vampire jet car is set to be on display at Schaeffler’s brand new national REPXPERT Conference, which is taking place on Wednesday 22 May at the Manufacturing Training Centre (MTC) Coventry.

Visitors to the Conference will be able to get an up-close-and-personal look at the record-breaking car, which left a Top Gear presenter with life-threatening injuries following an accident in 2006.

“The Vampire is a legendary piece of British automotive and TV history,” said Matthew Selby, Sales and Marketing Director at Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket (UK) Ltd, “and we are delighted to be hosting it during our inaugural REPXPERT Conference.”

Beyond its more recent notoriety, the Vampire jet car remains the UK Land Speed Record holder, having achieved an average speed of 300.3 miles per hour in July 2000.

Built in the late 1970s the car was raced and demonstrated throughout Europe in the 1980s. After the famed Top Gear accident, the car was sold as scrap, but it was ultimately rebuilt and restored. This process was completed in 2021.

As well as the Vampire jet car, TV stars Colin Denton of Classic Car Garage has been confirmed as a keynote speaker with Abigayle André, creator of car advice TikTok sensation @shetalkscars on hosting duties.

The REPXPERT Conference will run from 9am to 5pm on Wednesday 22nd May. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. To find out more about the event or to book, go to: https://oeparts.typeform.com/to/Nj0eezec.
