A fascintating and challenging 8 month project from Jan to Aug ’22 to revamp and replace both the IGA’s trade association website and to launch a new Trust My Garage website.
My role as project manager involved internal liaison to help the business distill clear requirements by working with key internal stakeholders including staff and garages. I then identified the technical sub-contractors and partners best suited to delivering each site, before project managing the delivery to agreed budgets and timescales.
The challenge in both cases at a superficial level was to update the ‘look and feel’ of the existing older sites. The back end requirements were generally to retain and extend existing functionality which was closely fitted to working processes that were long established and proven.
The IGA site now reflects the organisation’s market presence and capabilities with a bright, fresh site that is easy to navigate.
The Trust My Garage site has added VRM look-up and built API connectivity to 3rd party job time and parts data providers. The platform is live with ‘Phase 1’ objectives of generating a measurable stream of booking enquiries for member garages. In due course, the site could be extended to offer real-time online consumer pricing based on actual job times, vehicle-specific parts data and garage rates.
